A speculative revitalisation of Houtouwan (Shengsi Islands, China), an abandoned fishing village reclaimed by vegetation. The proposal uses generative imagery and parametric studies to imagine a light-touch, porous intervention that respects the overgrown landscape while restoring community presence through eco-tourism and cultural exchange.
Harmonise ecological recovery with communal life: introduce a floating, market-like pavilion and gentle trail/port connections that revive local rituals without displacing nature. The aim is to catalyse degrowth-minded economies, invite former residents back as stewards and guides, and frame the site as a living classroom for coastal restoration.
